1978 YAMAHA SG2000 W/OHSC no reserve Picture(s) and Description:

This is a 1978 Yamaha SG2000 made famous by Carlos Santana. I'll spare all the history lesson other than to say these are rare and sought after guitars. All is original except for the pick guard which was replaced by a specially ordered one just for this guitar. The tone of this guitar is by far my favorite yet. The two original humbuckers are quite impressive. The neck pup has a beautiful creamy clean tone and sounds great when overdriven. The bridge pup is a hot pup that has the best overdriven crunch. I roll the neck pup back a little with the selector switch on both pups and it's pure tone. The sustain is legendary of course and for good reason. I can play my favorite power chord (a good AC/DC A) and it just keeps on going. All electronics work without any problem. The input jack becomes loose after plugging in and out a few times, but functions without any problems. I just usually hand tighten it and go on. It doesn't effect the sound at all. The nut is awesome. I don't what material it's made out of, but it's not plastic. The body has a little ding on the front and a mark on the inside of the lower bout (looks like where someone rested there pinky). The edges of the guitar are pretty clean. Typically you see a lot of dings and chips, but this one is quite clean. The worst ding is on top of the headstock (pictured). The front and back of the headstock look good, especially the tulip. There is no buckle rash at all and no significant scratches. With the exception of the mentioned obvious marks most of the cosmetic stuff is natural. The gold hardware has tarnished. The bridge and tail piece have aged nicely, but the tuners don't look that great. The binding has aged nicely too. You can feel the seam where it meets the body, but all is intact. There is some milking in the finish around the inside of the top and bottom bouts as well as in the belly cut. It's not bad enough where you can it see unless your the one holding the guitar and looking for it. It is a neck through body with the legendary brass plate under the bridge. All tone and volume knobs work without any scratchy pots. The frets have plenty of wear, but it plays great without any weirdness such as buzzing or fretting out etc. The exterior of the case has it's share of nics, dings etc. The color has faded and the buckles tarnished. The Yamaha logo is intact and in good shape as well as the inside of the case. All buckles function properly. The 3rd buckle feels like it doesn't quite go all the way down, but it does and works like it should. You can also see that someone's initials were stenciled on the top. Aside of it's tone the most impressive part is it's ability to stay in tune. Even after putting on new strings this thing stays in tune almost immediately. I don't know if I got lucky or if it's with all SG2000's . This is by far my all around favorite guitar. I'm "down sizing" and liquidating in hopes of having a nice LP, Strat, and acoustic guitar when it's all said and done. The SG is the most valuable guitar I have so she has to go. I will own another one when I have an empty nest, but have to take care of the kids (college and high school). I've tried to describe the guitar the way I'd want it described to me, but please remember that it's not a closet queen. It's been played and well taken care of, but is over 30 yrs old. I ask that you communicate with me after winning, as soon as possible. Please ask any question you may have before bidding. Sorry for the picture quality. I tried with a flash, without a flash, indoor and outdoor. I may try again, but this is what I got. If your an International bidder looking for a shipping estimate please give me a shipping address to use.
