PHIL – GET AN AMP !!!!

  • Joeey says:

BACK IN COLLEGE – IN MUSIC SCHOOL there was this funky funky black guy who lived in the dorm and he had a Hommond guitar amplifier with 2×12′s and purple and lavendar push buttons on the tops of it. NOW THAT WUZ AN AMP!!!! SOUNDED GREAT. FET!!!! Field Effect Transistors!!! You ever heard of them? Same thing used in old car radios w/ 8-track tape. Also SOUNDED GREAT.

  • Joeey says:

psst electric guitars require amplifiers. pssst tell someone.

  • pmtunes says:

  • s1914 says:

Nice review Phil – thanks very much.

  • jbothos1 says:

The way the guitar sounds and the way the pick-ups are described, it almost makes you want to literally take a small bit e out of their mini chocolate bar shape and taste them.

  • GuitarJamDailydotCom says:

the Lollar 90′s are not hum canceling…

  • jazmanning says:

    Great!
Are the lollar p90′s hum canceling?
If not then how bad would the hum be if the guitar was used as a studio axe?

  • EricDMyers says:

I got the same guitar – it is so responsive to EVERYTHING – try picking up the neck – the tone suddenly goes all OCTAVER on you – a beautiful thing

  • GuitarJamDailydotCom says:

Amp is a Heritage Colonial from Paul C’s design. Cab is a bob Burt V 2X12 with Warehouse guitar speakers 12-65′s wired to 8 ohms. We have more Collings Guitar reviews coming. thanks

  • kerranz says:

a few things…TV Yellow was used because dead white would flare out the tubes in the old cameras. (hey! used my degree!)
Also the tuners are pronounced Shpairts-ul…I talked to Mrs. Sperzel and she’s way German–scolded me for dropping my umlaut.
Love your style, sounds great , but what AMP are we hearing it thru?
My first custom guitar is coming soon with many of the same appointments–I’m salivating hearing this, thanks.
where are you located? May want to have you do a review !

  • GuitarJamDailydotCom says:

Phil reviewed 3 Collings guitars and they were ALL spectacular. We haven’t had a bad guitar in for review yet. More to come from Collings, Wilkins, Fender, EVH, MusicMan and Godin… Stay tuned
