OK, I am long winded but if you take time to read this, it will answer most of your questions. Then if that is not enough, check out my eBay reference website for even more info. I am cutting loose another a very nice custom Strat Plus’ I have had tucked away my private collection. This Plus is probably the nicest I have done to date and is the ultimate guitar, and there is none other like it, except it’s twin sister that I built which had a Maple neck. You might check what people who have said who have bought other guitars from me BY READING MY FEEDBACK. I HAVE THE GUITARS SOLD MARKED WITH A REPLY SO THEY ARE EASY TO SPOT. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a Fender Ultra but is a Strat Plus Deluxe that has been customized like an Ultra with a humbucker in the neck position. Let me explain something about this guitar. I have build several Strats with two humbuckers with a single coil pickup sandwiched in between. Great PRS, Les Paul tones but I lost a lot of the Strat quack. I came up with this configuration and it is the ultimate Strat. In the neck it has a blues, jazz, killer tone. All the way back to the bridge it is everything a Strat should be plus Tele tones and more. This is just one of many customized Strat Plus’ I have done over the years. (Also, lot of people on eBay use my site for reference when selling Strat Plus guitars and it is Google’s #1 site for Stratocaster Plus guitars. .) Check it out as there is a lot of info there about these guitars. THE GUITAR: This is USA 1994 BLACK STRATOCASTER PLUS DELUXE that has been customized like an Ultra. (Serial #N4176854). Really, this guitar is like brand new from top to bottom. Comes with most of the case candy. This guitar weighs 8 lbs 4 ozs. THE BODY: Is Alder with a high gloss Black finish. The body is mint. All you see are reflections on this glossy body. (Please understand that I am a fanatic about that condition of my guitars and want to be honest in every detail!) The top pickguard, which sports no pick scratches, is a brand new custom ordered Black Pearloid, with matching back plate. THE NECK: 22-fret skunk striped maple neck with a Rosewood fret board. The whole neck, including the frets, are like new. The radius (9.5) is a nice C shape and has a smooth matte finish. It has the Biflex truss rod, which gives you low fast action. The tuners are Shaller locking tuners. Fast strings changes. Pull it through the tuner hole, tighten down the lock, cut off the excess and tune. Fast and easy. The nut is a LSR Roller Nut that reduces friction when using the tremolo. The strings ride on small ball bearings, which helps it to stay in tune when diving with the Tremolo! This has the hip-shot tremsetter. If a string breaks, it will compensate thus keeping the guitar in tune. With a recent set-up, the action is very low and fast. THE ELECTRONICS:This is wired like Fender’s Ultra guitars with the exception of the Humbucker and on/off mini-switch. All the pickups, pickguard and electronics are brand new USA parts. The Fender Chrome Dome Lace pickups are powerful and very quiet. I work in two studios, one is a pro studio and the other is a home studio. If you have a regular Tele or Strat and you get around a lot of studio gear, you pick up that nasty hum that can drive you crazy. These pickups are QUIET. The Lace Sensor pickups have been used on such Signature Models by such artists as: Eric Clapton; Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, and James Burton. The bottom tone control is Fender’s TBX system. It is a special tone control that cuts either treble or bass instead of the standard style of tone that cuts treble only. T (treble) B (bass) X (Expand) thus TBX). When you turn this knob, you can feel a halfway point, which is tone neutral. This tone control gives the bridge and middle pickups a unique variety of sounds! When the 5-way switch is in the 4th position, by turning the tone control you can get a bell like sound to a honking out-of-phase mid-range sound. Put the switch in position #2 and, you get a quack, or a hollow twang! With the 5-way super-switch, The 1st tone control (500k) for the neck pickup with a on/off mini-switch and the 3-way mini toggle switch for the bridge pickup, along with the special wired tone controls, gives you the ultimate variety of sounds--ALL QUIET! NECK pickup is a DiMarzio Classic PAF Humbucker (DP195N). This pickup is designed the voice the old Les Paul vintage PAF humbuckers. Using their patented Airbucker technology, Dimarzio created a pickup that sounds like the best humbuckers of the 50s without any compromise in sound. Smooth for jazz and great for blues. The 4-wire connector allows the pickup to be split (tapped), using a on/off mini-switch and is connected to a 500k tone control pot. When you pull it up it splits off one half of the windings to give you more of a single coil sound. MIDDLE pickup is a HOT GOLD LACE CHROME DOME, which delivers a hot vintage 50’s tone. Great for those out of phase sound when combined with the neck or bridge pickups. BRIDGE pickup is a RED DUALLY LACE CHROME DOME. This is the hottest of the Lace Sensor family. Beefy, biting, humbucker tones. With the trick writing you can get a lot of variation in tone. The Ultra wiring schematics works with way: Switch Position #1: The bridge pickup using a 3 way mini switch. This alone gives several variations, which are really cool. Here is what the lower “mini switch” does to the Dually Bridge pickup (and remember too, that these settings can be mixed with the other pickups). Up) activates the front bridge pickup which creates a out of phase hollow sound, which then can be mixed with the middle pickups with the 5-way switch. Middle) has the bridge pickups in series creating a hot humbucker sound. Down) activates the back pickup on the bridge to give a single coil sound giving more of a Tele bite sound. The distance of the pickups from the bridge creates different sounds. Switch Position #2: The bridge and the middle pickups mixed together, which can get a multitude of Strat out-of-phase tones because of the mini switch and the TBX tone control. Switch Position #3: Here is where we part from standard Strat wiring. Instead of just running the middle pickup, this position mixes the neck humbucker pickup with the bridge pickup like on any 2 pickup guitars, such as a Telecaster. Again, with the mini-switches you can shape the color of the sound. Full, rich rhythm sounds. And both tone controls are also combined in this position too. Switch Position #4: Is the humbucker and the middle combined in an out-of-phase vintage Strat tones. Switch Position #5: Is the Dimarzio humbucker that can be split using the top mini-switch. This way you can get full humbuker tone or more of a single coil tone. The Lace Sensor Pickup family has a unique radiant field barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, eliminating annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Matrix Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional pickups.
